  1. Hello all,

Further to my note about the re-cycling facility at the school, I have since heard back from Wildlands as follows:

“Please note that the bins have been removed due to the following reasons.
The principle of the school was contacted in 2012 informing him that the bins were not being utilized in the correct manner. the bins were mixed with diapers, wet waste, food and other non recyclable items.
Unfortunately this was not resolved and therefore the bins were removed.”

What a huge pity!!! We will clear up what is currently piled at the gate, but for the forseeable future please make other arrangements for your re-cycling.

  2. Hi

I was hoping that the removal of the re-cycling bins at the school was just a temporary hiccup over the holidays, and that the problem of the bags being dumped at the gate (which is at the entrance to my property as well – so we have been taking what we can to Howick!) would be resolved when school re-opened. However, I spoke to the headmistress last week and she told me that the facility will NOT be available any more although she was unable to explain why. I am going to contact Wildlands in an attempt to get some answers and do what I can to get the service up and running again…..but in the meanwhile please stop dumping!

As soon as I hear back from Wildlands I will let you know…..or perhaps someone enlighten us……?

    Kind regards

    1. Does anybody have Phillip Lee’s contact details, I see he is listed under the ‘Builders’ heading in ‘Other Things’.

  3. Dear All,
I will be constructing a 50sqm cabin which will be 100% off the grid, using eco-beams and sandbags at Marabou Estate and wish to know whether there is a contractor in the area interested in assisting with the project due to commence in January 2013.

    1. Hi Carlo. thats great news! I’d be happy to help with the embodied energy audit, Permaculture design and installation of Solar sytems. Contact Shine on 076 962 6894.

  4. Midlands House of Healing at Khululeka : Colleen van Heerden: 4th March 2012 : Enjoyed fig preserve, feta, gingerbread, cottage cheese, felafel (veg),
fresh cocktail tomatoes, chocolate brownies, all delicious and homemade
    by the Dargle people.

Thank you for an amazing day of friendly local shopping.

  5. Dear EVERYONE!

Firstly, we hope you had a blessed Christmas and trust that 2012 will be a marvellous and productive year for everyone.

At the 1st 2012 market (Sunday 8th January) PLEASE may we request that those of you who are lucky enough to have pink hydrangeas in bloom (we only have blue) please bring a bunch for us to purchase – our middle daughter is having her 21st on the 14th and she has decided that her theme is (shocking) pink and black!! I am therefore stumped on the pink flowers!

Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

    Regards
    Malvina van Breemen
